Beckett seems honest and till he told his story would seem to not have an ax to grind.
But the Swift Boaters who have given Kerry metals have two very different stories they have told about the same events. The others are angry at Kerry and have nothing to lose to support lies, they have 200 supporters. Lies are easier to perpetuated with numbers because no one would believe 200 people would lie. Exactly why that is I don't know. Logic says any number could lie. Get a clue!
Heroism during war means something to me and being cavalier about giving out metals is not something to praise or reward in anyway. If Kerry doesn't deserve metals he shouldn't have been given them by these men. They deserve as much dislike as Kerry if it's true.
But, I think this has more to do with him stabbing them in the back after his tour than what happened during it. Veterans in general do like Kerry. You didn't notice that CBS had poll numbers show a big bump for Kerry after the DNC. Yet they put them at the very bottom of and article about how the Vets don't much like him. Media bias?
No matter how you play this Kerry upped for duty he didn't have to do in boats known then to be very dangerous. That took courage.
Bush on the other hand got Daddy to pull strings to get him in the Guard. Then it would seem avoided finishing his responsibilities in Alabama when it wasn't convenient. But, what is worst seems to have pretended to volunteer for duty in Vietnam when he knew he had to few hour in the air to qualified for it.
