There are things taught to our children in universities--political and economic views--that have no more basis in logic and reality than the idea that a specimen of every animal on Earth was once aboard a single boat.
You decide if something has a basis in reality by applying reason and experimentation. The former without the latter leads to silliness like Zeno's Paradox. The latter without the former leads to primitive trial and error responses to perceptions.
The philosophy of collectivism fails on both counts, but is sustained by the faith of those who believe that somehow, it's the RIGHT way to deal with human beings. And no doubt it will continue to be tried over and over again on that basis.
