"For me, the fundamental problem with a creator is simply my observation in science that the answers always seem to lie in the simplest solution. If you come up with a solution that only spawns more unanswerable questions, the solution is invalid..... The same feelings make me an atheist. To swallow the notion of a creator, one has to completely ignore the question of "where did the creator come from?". Logic clearly dictates that infinite series of questions. "

Theologians and scholars in the Middle Ages and Renaissance grappled with this problem and called it "the fallacy of reason". Their argument was:
"The application of reason denies the existance of God. However I know there is a God therefore I reject the validity of reason. Consequently, my belief in God is based upon blind faith alone."
This argument is quite possibily one of the most repugnant pieces of sophistry ever spawned by the mind of man. It essentialy employs reason to deny the validity of reason. Unfortunately this nonsense is the basis for most modern religions and brings into focus the basic contradiction between religious belief and the scientific method. There are excellent reasons why religious moonbats fight against teaching evolution in school. They know that ultimately, science can defeat religion. Therefore the moonbats have to fight science where it is most vulnerable through corruption of the education process.
Anyway, this post's subject was "My problem with atheism". My problem with atheism is simple: The atheists are on the same side of the fence with Creationists, the Moonies, the Mormons and the Islamic fundamentalists. All these groups believe in the validity of faith and either directly or by implication doubt in the power of reason and empiricism. As an agnositic, my hands are clean. I reject the validity of faith and stand by the scientific method as the ultimate basis for truth.
