How about,
It supports our Federal system, buy preventing a few states with large populations from controlling the whole country?
If we were to go with a Parliamentary system, it might be good to evaporate the EC. But having a nation where CA, NY, and one or two other states can dicatate how we all live does not hold much promise, imho.
