Interesting.

I could see Kerry going for the "Bosnia" route, which specifies that as long as no Americans are getting killed dropping bombs from thousands of feet in the air, it isn't a "real" war at all. I have to sit with my mouth open when idiots come at me with "nobody died from Clinton's military efforts."

As with Saddam's years of atrocities, the annihilation of Iraq down on the ground after Kerry's pullout will no longer be "news," except maybe to try and show that "Bush lost Iraq." Look at the mass graves that were filled while we flew our sorties after the first Gulf War.

If you want to get specific about it, I call a "pullout" anything that stipulates that we no longer want to win the war, but just get out of it. And whatever fig leaf Kerry decides to put on that, including "flyover zones" or anything else, it isn't going to be any less obvious than the helicopters being pushed off the decks of aircraft carriers after Vietnam, or the Demcrats in Congress stripping the support from South Vietnam back then and letting them twist in the wind.

Kerry has a long political history of appeasement, withdrawal, and surrender, and I don't see that pattern changing, no matter what he pretends to be. Had he had his way, the first Gulf War would not have been fought either, leaving Saddam in control of Kuwait, and his second nuclear weapons program unmolested. Where would that have left us now?
