What's this need we have to keep Iraq one country? Obviously there are major historical divisions from before World War II that might just make our whole task easier if we were to revert back to them. I think it's the only way to speed along the recovery. As long as these huge divisions are there, any attempt to help any one area is going to be seen as a threat to the other. If we put in new boundaries and treated each area as a separate country, we could concentrate our attentions on each based on their unique culture and needs.

I concur with some of our posters that there is a great deal of good going on in Iraq but, based on the historical differences between the cultures, success in those areas can be viewed as a threat to the others. Seems like a Catch 22. I can never imagine Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds in the same government getting along together.

Maybe it's time to think outside the box here.
