"Insurmountable difficulties". Do you really think that the US couldn't control guns if it wanted to? That it would be beyond our ability, ingenuity and application of that really were the national will? That the US is so limited it could not control guns within it's borders? I doubt it.
Can you look back on Al Gore and the NRA and still say that "the aura of vitue and compassion that the anti-gun politicians" will win elections? Is your memory that short?
I don't think so. I think you know guns could be controlled and that you know the gun lobby is so big and powerful it sways elections all the time. I think you just say things so as to sound the underdog, the martyr, the noble victim struggling uphill against ignorance and privilege. While knowing it isn't true.
