re: Yeti reasoning

Hey, I'm not asking for a 20 point plan. How about a one-point plan? How about a basic idea? It doesn't have to be original to you. Does the Left have any productive ideas at all? Maybe they're a little gun-shy, since their foreign policy positions were mostly dead wrong throughout the entire Cold War.

All right, I'll lay off, or at least try to.

Look, I have no illusions that parts of this war are a kludge. There's been a large kludge factor pretty much since Turkey put the kibosh on the northern front (where most of the trouble is now) and we had to run troops all the way around for an enormous drive north. Giving Saddam many months warning sucked pretty bad, too. There is evidence of pre-planning to some of the insurgency tactics, and those trucks to Syria have never been dealt with. But we had to play the U.N. game out to the end.

I'm not saying all dissent about the war is futile or irrelevant. Arguments that we don't have enough troops for future needs are legitimate, if without easy answers. Outrage at the prison abuses was not inappropriate, even if it was used mostly as a political weapon. There are other issues as well that can be addressed, honest criticism about how the war is being conducted now. Hopefully, criticism from the point of view of someone who wants our side to win.

But at what point does saying "we shouldn't be there" finally start to get a bit old?
