I don't know who Tom Matula is. I don't follow the Moon stuff that close (doesn't really interest me) and never heard of LRO. Not sending MRO to Mars would be a very bad idea IMHO. They'll need MRO to do the reconnaissance for MSR assuming they don't send MSR to Meridiani. Truth-to-tell, if they opt not to send MSR to Meridiani, they will need to send at least one MER clone to the candidate site before risking a billion dollar vehicle.
