Again, I don't know who Tom Matula is. A bigger worry for me concerning the Moon nonsense is the CEV. The requirements for Earth return from Mars are more strict than Earth return from the Moon. If they design the CEV so it can only work for Lunar return then Mars is effectively excluded from manned exploration. All indications are that CEV will be designed for Lunar return only.
