Yes he has many supporters there, but he has even more enemies...And his enemies are those in power who could easily have him iced should he ever return to Saudi Arabia...In short, he would be dead as soon as he made a public appearance there; therefore, Bin Ladin is doomed to live out his final days in hiding in the caves of Afganistan, Iran, and Pakistan.
Will a Taliban-like Regime ever gain power in Saudi Arabia?
Well never say never, but for it to happen you would first need to see the US return to the Quasi-isolasionist and "peace at all costs" policies that were first tried and failed back in the Jimmy Carter days...And even if that unlikely circumstance were to develop in the US, Bin Ladin would still be a dead man. A Saudi-Taliban government wouldn't be as likely to welcome Bin Ladin as the Afganistan Taliban was.
Bin Ladin has been minimalized to such an extent that it almost makes you wonder if he isn't allowed to hide in Afganistan as a terrorist attractant of sorts: We've set up the ultimate bug trap with Bin Ladin as bait: Terrorists can go in but they don't come out.
