I can understand why you, in particular, are "amazed."
Its not that Bin Laden and his goons would be less angry...its that he would have substantially fewer goons had we not invaded Iraq. In fact, had we stayed focussed on Afghanistan and actually caught the guy, perhaps he wouldn't be so effective at recruiting more goons today.
