On Mars I'd have the astronauts/colonists wear hard suits pressurized at one bar. It's safer in terms of not getting the bends, punctures and secondary cosmic radiation dose. Hard suits are unacceptable for doing hard manual labor. For that purpose I'd use pressure tents. Say a hole needs to get dug in the ground with shovel and pick. I'd put a tent over the site and stake the tent down with deep spikes. I'd then have a turbopump blowing Martian atmosphere into the tent to pressurize it at 0.2 atm. The tent would leak like crazy through the ground so the pump would have to be fairly high performance. There would also have to be a cooler attached to the pump's outlet to set the compressed atmosphere to a comfortable temperature. Workers would enter the tent, take off their pressure suits and wear only t shirts and shorts. A worker would wear an oxygen mask and breath pure oxygen from a bottle on his back. One could do hard physical labor in that sort of situation and not get too uncomfortable.
