No. Socialized medicine is a system in which doctors and hospitals work for the government and draw salaries from the government.
Single-payer health care, on the other hand, is a system where doctors and hospitals get all of their money from the government, which is a completely different thing.
This has the same beauty as government mandates on business. All of the control and power of socialism, and none of the responsibility.
