You, and the rest of the Left, have to start dealing with the idea that most of the population no longer wears overalls and lifts bales for a living or follows a mule behind a plow. A lot of social programs that made sense in such a world don't fit as well now.
I haven't done physcal labor for money since I was a teenager, and don't expect to have to when I'm 55, which is in four more years. In fact, if I play my cards right, I'll be making more money at 60 working this computer than I am now. This was the result of choices I made, damn hard work, and struggling through some of the difficult dry spells you get when you're self-employed.
I don't know you well enough to comment on your situation. I don't know your education level, what you do for a living, why you're single, or anything else. And frankly, it isn't any of my business.
But your problems are not a blank check on other people's bank accounts. Maybe you don't feel that way, but plenty of other liberals do.
You're still complaining about the taxes you pay every year. And you feel the government is taking away YOUR money.
You say this as though it's something bizarre. Whose money IS it? Whose money do YOU think it is?
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is no longer mentioned out loud among Democrats, but it's still the foundation principle of the party.
