That's a good question. I took a vacation. This place no longer consumes so much of my time.
It's sort of like when you're breaking up. You take what matters to you before the divorce.
My album page was special to me, it was who I am. So I took my pictures too.
Frankly, very few regulars over here ever DID post their personal information, so I guess I felt it wouldn't make a difference. Where's yours?
I've been posting with this group since 1998. It's been colorful, entertaining and educational; but repeated personal, vicious attacks by ONE individual is something that eventually makes this place less than "habitable". Rude people are to be avoided at all costs no matter where they live (or post). It's a personal choice.
Our media, TV shows, advertisements, movies, games, etc. over here make us the DroneHeads that we are. And the election of one GWBush has turned this country over on it's head again. I haven't seen this many people isolated from each other since the Viet Nam war. It is not pretty. Therefore you get the polarization even further. Had you been here right after 9/11, you would have seen the effects and how carefully honed everyone's political and racial biases were BEFORE the lead up to the Iraq war and the bickering that ensued AFTER.
Perhaps in your country, you have less of a diverse culture or history that includes the draft or a powerful enough nation that exudes "kicking butt" at it's own whim and having to live with that. I remember some regular posters as the individuals who came onto the board and I see how dogmatic they have become. Perhaps this board has helped shape their opinions even further. I think we are ALL better to define ourselves and our positions by being here. And like McFly said, take a deep breath and chill out when people like Tom get under your skin. Everyone here's "been there, done that. "
I miss people like Art Martin, who was a breath of fresh air around here. You are too. And I miss others who have left along the way. But my passion for this place has found other directions. To some extent, I am glad to be free again.
Off Topic » in reply to So why are you still here then, particularly after you said your goodbyes AND pulled your profile off the album page?
