The hard truth is that North Korea is and should be mostly China's problem.
While the U.S. gets a lot of crap for throwing its weight around the planet, it should also be remembered that other entities who should have some interest in what's going on in their own back yards have largely sluffed it off until the U.S. finally did something. Yugoslavia and Africa come to mind.
It is ridiculous to assume that the North Korea situation is something that should be negotiated solely between that nation and the U.S., and it's highly amusing to hear people pushing this approach who spend the rest of their time pointing at Uncle Sam and screaming "unilateral."
Almost makes me think they are more into raw opposition than any consistent approach to foreign policy.
Now that China--which has a "no nukes on the Korean Peninsula"--has to take official notice of a nuclear North Korea, something may finally happen.
I can't see how China can tolerate an insane freak with atomic bombs less than 500 miles from Beijing. The crappiest Nodong missile in the North Korean inventory can reach that far.
