The only statistic you need to consider to understand what's wrong with this country's economy is the growing disparity between executive and worker salaries. The stock market broke 15K, corporate profits are skyrocketing, and worker productivity has hit an all time high, yet more and more wealth is flowing to fewer and fewer hands. It is clear that market forces are not countering these trends. I wonder why TB has never published an analysis of why that should be. Is it any wonder he has never even brought it up?
It is the elephant in the room that no one seems to want to notice. And it is not the unions' or the media's or some unspecified left wing tyranny's elephant, its the Republican elephant.
There can only be one hypothesis that fits all these observations. Capitalism has entered its final, decadent stage, the professional managers and their political toadies who make economic policy have gamed the system to a point where the normal laws of supply and demand no longer apply, where there is no obstacle to malfeasance, no accountability for incompetence and no incentive to responsibility. And they are doing everything they can to shift the blame onto those who just happen to work here.
These are not stupid men. They know exactly what is happening, but all they care about is how to maximize their benefit and see to it that it is taxed as little as possible before the system goes supernova. They know the collapse is inevitable and they are determined to profit from it as much as they can for as long as they can. It is the ultimate short sell. We are witnessing an avarice and depravity of cosmological dimension.
