The article doesn't make it clear whether the books had to be authored in the 19th and 20th centuries or merely had to have an evil influence on the dwellers passing through this period.
The theological bent of the reviewers was made quite clear when they include The Course of Positive Philosophy which advocates removing morality from the ancient religions and shifting it into a scientific setting.
Unfortunately a large portion of the "activist" conservatives are really better termed "reactionaries." Conservatives aren't activists and so sites proferring themselves as conservative bastions are really nothing of the sort - they conceal an agenda. In this case we see these books all share a defiant stand against theological submission. Whether it be the atheism of Karl Marx or a Catholic who abandons the church all share this in common.
It becomes transparent when they pick the obscure anti-religion books that few have heard of outside the theological activist circles. This was neatly masked advertisement for religion, even in the usage of the word "evil" to describe a book.
Amazingly, I'm in agreement with Bowser, albeit for slightly different reasons.
