Of course you need to read The Communist Manifesto, in order to see how stupid it is. It has the great benefit of being very short. It should be required reading.
Btw, it always been a mystery to me how lefties could actually read this book and still be a lefty, what possible excuses do they give for it?
Your typical school textbook should also be on this list, they are generally poorly written, students don't find them very interesting, and aren't generally enjoyable to read. It's evil to force children to read them. You might find The Communist Manifesto in someone's bookshelf, but school textbook is even rarer. But I suppose this is mostly as a result of the other book on their list: Democracy and Education. I think I would rather be smacked with teacher's stick a few times rather than read this book.
