I'm starting to feel like Davin, beginning to hate coming here and reading the threads - the smarmy subject-line-only retorts that address nothing, responses that seem to miss the point deliberately and entirely, issues unnecessarily nuanced into a moral Mobius strip saturated in infinite shades of dreary, overcast grey, the self-satisfied defeatism and compulsory cynicism the author thinks is fresh and different.
In other words, you're frustrated that people who disagree with you don't understand why they must be wrong?
I would say that to imply or to state that the mistreatment of other human beings based on a gradation of what is acceptable mistreatment is nothing more than bullying enunciated at the policy level. That's about as grey as it gets.
I am tired of arguments that rest on the premise that, if we are not as bad as our enemies, we are therefore good. If you think that premise is appropriate, that's fine, but please don't expect me to agree with any argument predicated on such a premise.
Sunshine is the best bleach. Secrecy keeps people in the dark. Secrecy impedes self-government because it prevents the people from knowing what their representatives and other employees are doing.
