I was amazed at how much the new War of the Worlds preview did NOT grab me, and apparently the audience around me. It looked like some standard disaster-horror thriller.

Not showing the Martian war machines (aka Jaws Shark) was a mistake, this time.

And what was wrong with the 1953 version that it had to be remade?
