Thank you Robert.
I hope I have not gotten too emotional on this. With so many people anti-Religion here at the HZ (and verbally expressing it) I felt as if I was being backed into a corner and had to defend myself and my religion.
Being a Christian and a scientist, I catch it from both sides. With the religious folks I am always arguing that the Bible says nothing on how God made man. He could have used evolution. There is nothing in the Bible that says he couldn’t have used Evolution. And likewise, there is nothing in the Bible that says the Earth is not 4 billion years old.
Heck, I used to teach 8th grade science here in the Bible belt. And I made a stand to teach Evolution and caught a lot of flak too.
Then, with scientist, I am doing like I am here on the HZ today defending my religion.
The Bible , in fact, is very vague on the creation of man and the universe. And what is does cover sound very similar to what the scientist are saying (ie. In the beginning the Earth was without form. Of course it had no form, It was part of the Solar Nebula) I think God wanted us to learn about science ourselves. I look at God as a scientist, after all (I believe) he created this physical unversed and the physical laws that govern it.
I understand your concern. Maybe Evolution and Intelligent Design shouldn’t be taught until High School, when children’s minds are mature enough to understand what they are being taught.
