Because I have plenty of other things to do. Otherwise I'd be cultivating this board with more posts on more varied topics. The trouble I have doing this has more to do with the fact that much of what I do in my real life is not of much interest to most of the people who post here, I would like there to be a conversation, and I'm not inclined to throw my time away on monologues.

Honestly -- speaking as a private citizen -- I'm getting a little sick of this. I could post a critical essay over on Space concerning the importance of self-importance and the value of aridity, but I haven't. Content on Space is controlled by the people who post there.

If you want the content over here to be different, POST SOMETHING ELSE. It's like politics: if you don't like the incumbent, work for his opponent. Don't just sit and whine that you don't like what's going on.

The board's name is "Off Topic". That's the same as "Potpourri" in Jeopardy, or "miscellaneous" anywhere else. Flame is for insults, rough language, and that stuff. A controversial subject isn't a flame; otherwise we wouldn't have a CE board, which is full of controversy, and all its content would be on Flame. Crop circles are obviously not to the taste of everyone at the Zone, probably even to most people here, but they are not flames.

In an irony that escapes those who decry the presence of things they don't like, by complaining about a topic you continue and expand its presence!

You have at your fingertips an opportunity to change the subject. It's called a keyboard. Why the hell don't you use it?
