re: "the buck stops here"

"I don't want to inflate it to the level of religious doctrine, but it's analogous to the notion that "Christ died for our sins". Christ didn't commit those sins and didn't personally control the actions of the sinners. For a President as well as Christ, acceptance of responsibility without culpability is the ultimate in selflessness."

I think you are fortifing my point. I don't want a President who imagines he is Christ on the Cross. Christ did that already, I don't need, nor does anyone need a copycat. I am quite happy with a human. I don't need a Christ or Buddha or any other Enlightened One as a President- I don't need the real thing, but having someone who is delusional that they some god-like person is a very negative matter.
Let's review, I don't require a Saint, Demigod, or Son of God as President. Instead a human who has leadership abilities- and Bush has already demonstrated this quality exceedly well. Next I want someone who understands Americans and who represents Americans who leads this country- and Bush has already demonstrated this exceedly well.

[If an actual Saint, Demigod, or Son of God is the US President it's ok by me, as long as It does their godlike shit on their own dime, I want a public servant who is focused on performing the role and duties of President.]

"Don't forget, speaking of elections, that last year Bush ran on essentially a one-point platform: "Vote for me and I'll keep you safe. The other guy can't do that." I don't recall any qualifications, like "...except when I'm on vacation". It was an unconditional promise, gb, and by weaseling now he's backing off from that promise."

I didn't get this message. What I got from George Bush was he would continue in Iraq until the job was done [now, I believe this is a path that improves our National Security, broadly speaking it could be described as keeping me safe, but I didn't think Bush was going to stop natural disasters or stop all possible terrorist attacks].
For a US President vacation is anytime away from Washington DC, any US President is on the job 24 hr, 7 days a week, 365 days a year [unless physcially ill]. I see no disadvantage for Bush to be in Texas rather DC as far as dealing with issues related to Katrina. In terms of distance, Texas is better than DC.
