Good point. and an old war story

The main point to me is whether or not the drugs are valid behavioral therapy and I don't pretend to have the answer.

As for my kid, what you say concerns me and I don't really have any illusions regarding the long term benefit.

When I was a full time student in the 60s, amphetamines were used indiscriminately for studying and never ending prescriptions were easily obtained if you were 10 lbs overweight. The prescriptions could be refilled daily if you had the money so they were passed freely among the student body. I took my share of "dex" in those days but I learned fast that non-stop studying for 48 hours does not get it done.

My buddy and I were both taking a very difficult sociology course called "Transition in Rural and Urban Society". We had both dropped an Antropology course and started late in Transitions. I always figured the prof figured we jumped into his class thinking it would be crip.

Before the final we were both sort of struggling in the class. I bore down on the book for the final but my buddy took mass quantities of dex and studied for nearly 48 hours, then went directly to the final. It was a one question final and it was tough. I did the best I could and turned in one blue book at the end. My glassy eyed buddy had written over two bluebooks by the end of the hour and he appealed to the prof that he had more to say and needed more time. The prof took him to his office and told him he could have as much time as he wanted. Well, he wrote a total of ten bluebooks over 3+ hours.

When the grades came in I got a C- and my bud got a D.
