Man Scott, for a guy that often sounds on the ball, for you to have swallowed that line of crap from this administration is very perplexing. If you notice in 9/11 we weren't attacked by a country but by rogue terrorists that mostly came from Saudi Arabia. With that line of reasoning our target should have been the House of Saud, not Saddam.

From what I've seen and read of Saddam and his idiot sons, in spite of being cruel to their countrymen and neighbors, they were survivalists in a huge sense. Any country has to know that to stage a WMD attack on the US would bring massive retaliation on the scale that would make shock and awe seem like a walk in the park and certain death to its leadership. That kind of threat would not only keep direct attacks from being launched from within Iraq but would be a huge deterrence as well to them being the suppliers to some terrorist organization if the tiniest thread of evidence linked them to it. A WMD attack would bring worldwide condemnation and pretty much a green light for the US to go after whoever it felt was guilty.

When are you guys going to figure out that stopping terrorist attacks in the US is a function of intelligence and not military action. If we'd take a fraction of that billion and a half dollars a week we spend in Iraq and put it into foreign intelligence gathering upgrades we'd be much further ahead.
