Over the weekend I spent a great deal of time removing a particularly nasty trojan. (Adware, I think.)
This morning, after my usual early scribbling time I popped the backup disc in for the standard B/U update as the system shut down.
And something went wierdly wrong, there was a momentary blank screen, I heard both HHD's start spooling down and then the systems hung on the "Widows is shutting down" screen as they started spinning back up.
Worried about the ten or so pages I'd just written I rebooted and tried to access the Wordperfect file.
"Filename not recognised."
Tried a workaround by digging out the auto-back-up utility that Corel so thoughtfully provided.
No joy.
Tried opening Wordperfect and using "Last file open"
No joy.
Tried both the back-up disc and running a search on both drives, nothing.
The file is still in the folder, all 904 KB (70+thousand words) of it, but I can't figure out how to open it. Still shows up on the back up disc, can't open that either.
Any suggestions, other than shoot the box and buy a large bottle of consolation?
