One to go, the most vital file I managed to rescue through some rather creative use of "Restore This" a rather ancient utility I had stashed away. I wish I could find an updated version, but even the really old timers say it's been gone for quite a while. I can't even find it listed on some of the geeky places i know about that have been around for a long time. (Cyberwise that is.)
(Ok Fox, you can breath now, it's all there.)
Shareware, what can you say.
The other one?
I think it's gone for good.
And, of course it's the one I can't rebuild easily.
It was my power supply connection that was the problem, when I booted this evening it got dingy on me. Went to 'Boot to Safe Mode." After some checking I discovered a loose power plug on the second HHD, where I keep all my data files. All my fault of course, in the course of cleaning out the nasty stuff I'd disconnected that drive to avoid cross infection.
Odd thing, it was the new worm that uses a Word doc as a vector, I don't have Word, but Word Perfect will open a Word doc. Last Fri I got an attachment from one of my relatives. In Word, I ran a Vscan, but that particular varient hadn't been in the last update on my AV program, three days before.
