what are the file attributes? Is it archived or something stupid like that?

Does anything come up in a simple text editor? Sometimes I've recovered non formated text that way. Lots of deleting of formating characters, but it might work.

What does WP use as a style sheet? maybe that is hosed. In Word, it's the normal.dot file that wacks out sometimes.

Have you defraged or done scan disk? Maybe it's in a bad sector.

Have you tried writing and saving a new file in WP, does that work?

Does WP have a help section at their website, mayhaps others have had this problem.

Try turning off system restore. Beasties can hide in there sometimes.

Does WP link with your anti-virus program and scan files as they open?

Go through those programs in startup again, maybe you missed something.

Now y'all got me worried 'bout my Norton. We just hooked up a wireless network (fully encripted) so I upgraded our 'puters to the latest version. My wife had McAfee, which was garbage. Never had a problem, just a pain in the butt. Norton really helped me out when I got Nimba'd a few years back while using another program (don't recall which one.) Overall, I like it. However, I have had some strange shutdowns of AutoCad.....
