is that you use drive C: for data and programs,
and that you use drive E: for your first backup.
then burn your CD
But for your hardware, your own method is better.
I'm no mind reader. I did not know your "backup disk" was a floppy. You didn't mention your floppy drive before, and I assumed that your "backup disk" was some kind of zip drive you used with a backup control program.
With your floppy, your method would work better. With the use of two hard drives, the worm would have had the ability to crawl rapidly up both drives.
I never meant to imply that you were a newbie, but it sure helps to have a complete system description and symptom description when one attempts remote diagnostics via the internet.
I can understand the 200 mile drive. You might want to consider getting that shop's phone number, and calling them instead.
The internet mail services Hotmail and Yahoo mail both provide automatic scanning of attachments with up to the minute scanners. However, given the timing of this particular instance, perhaps neither of them would have helped you.
Okay, I'll drop Macs. Look at how much you saved in the last two days with your homebuilt PC.
With a Mac, that worm wouldn't even have been able to make its OS calls, little less have htem listened to.
Why didn't you save those parts and build yourself a mule to use with the internet?
Geek Speak » in reply to EP did you even
what I was trying to suggest to you
The whole thread (36 posts)
- Relp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- One down
- When on a critical path, add your own safety margin
- probably useless suggestions:
- Oh man... the most important thing for you to do right now is to do nothing
- re: Relp!
- How are you able to see the file in the folder?
