That story I posted right after we went into Iraq? Somewhere in the northeast, a school teacher, a minister and some high school students were flying to a small protest in Washington the next day. They were "expected" at the airport, detained, questioned and held long enough to miss their flights that day. And only released the next morning.
Now you tell me, what's "homeland security" doing messing with the right of free speech, let alone movement of high school teachers, a minister ans 16 yr. old students? And remember how ANYONE connected with the corporate bigwig media fell hard (got smeared) or got fired by daring to WRITE negative pieces about Bush? Or how about that CIA agent who was outed for retribution because her husband publicly disagreed with Bush?
How soon they forget!
Oh, everyone was scared allright. Anyone with common sense and living free with their American birthrights all of a sudden had words like "traitors" or "Sadam-lovers" thrown at them.
Remember the guy who was arrested at the mall for wearing an anti-Bush t-shirt?
Don't tell me they're not monitoring individuals even closer than before.
And for their own reasons having nothing to do with terrorism.
