And given how the Right blogs are yapping, I have no doubt Tom will soon be posting telling us that the poll is fraudlent because it has too many Democrats.

Since the *change* in Bush's approval is about the same as the change found by Rassmussen and other recent surveys, the CBS thing sounds legit in the sense of picking up on real trends (which is the much better thing to measure with these sorts of polls than absolute levels). CBS has tended to be the worst poll for Bush, Rassumssen one of the better, so I'd imagine Bush's average approval would be in the mid to high 30s right now (as even the Bush supporting RealClearPolitics says is probably the case).
