The elections have been close.

The financing has not been close. Is the political system for sale? Almost. Not quite, but that too has been close.

The Republicans began their campaign to take over the political structure of the country in the middle of the 1960s. We know how it's done, local committee by local committee, and climbing the tree of the political structure. First the municipalities, then the counties, then the states. As demonstrated, it takes a while.

Unfortunately, the Republicans were taken over by the neocons and their fundamentalist political allies during that process. Eventually, they will discover that they hate each other, but until that time, they will continue to be united by a greater common hatred of liberals.

Eventually, also, the traditional conservatives whose traditional party the Republican Party is will begin to react to the cultural intolerance and the financial carelessness of the current controlling alliance. Already, in traditional Republican areas -- fiscal conservatives who are cultural moderates -- the President is becoming radioactive.

In the meantime, your guy is demonstrating day by day how little he knows and how little he cares about any part of the country that doesn't affect his circle.

You need to refrain from judging the activities of the children of liberals by what neocons and Rushians say about them. Chances are very good they are the ones learning to speak Japanese, Chinese... and Arabic. Why? Their parents aren't the xenophobes pushing for English As The National Language, that's why.
