THINK carefully...

If all you get out of this is that the US is somehow limited in military power, think again. If we wanted to play the heavy we could clean up Iraq in two weeks. However then we would really see the sort of casualty count "real wars" have.

Why is it when the US tries to preserve lives it gets bashed as impotent? Do you really want to see us crack out some heavy firepower and bombs over trouble zones where terrorists lurk? Wouldn't you be one of the first to scream that it was a humanitarian mess to kill the innocent alongside the guilty - the way ALL other nations have waged war through history?

Be happy that the USA fights wars differently than other nations and uses its omnipotent might judiciously. It's because the USA values these folks that we don't pull a Moscow on any bad guys that mess with the US. We have stockpiles of all sorts of nasty stuff that could put an end to all resistance in Iraq in about a week - and still leave the houses and building standing to be reinhabited by docile Iraqis who learned a horrible lesson about messing with the US.

Is that what you really want? Keep calling it a quagmire, and eventually that's what folks will get, not just in Iraq, but everywhere. Since folks apparently are impatient for subjugation of terrorists and hostiles - all over the world you will find ever increasingly brutal tactics employed. I don't think that's what you, Don, Al and other folks want - but unknowingly you are playing into the hands of those who will use your comments to justify harsher reprisals.

Think about it.
