I have to admit I liked the movie about York... (Starring Gary Cooper)... but I really felt it glossed over the moral issue. That crap about 'render unto Ceaser' as a way to get around his objections to war seemed like a cop-out. Fighting in war can be moral... it can even be the only moral choice. But to justify it as your responsibility to 'Caeser' is cowardice... Either you believe it to be a moral obligation, or you dont....
You cannot allow others to make the decision to kill others for you...
I wont pretend that I know what I would do if asked to serve... I have not been asked, and I never will be- But I have talked to liberators of nazi death camps- and I KNOW that while they had to do awful things, what they did was the moral thing... sometimes war is right... none of the men I talked to enjoyed relating their experiences... they usually cried talking about what they saw in the prison camps. They were heroes that had to go through hell....
I really respect those that fight in my name-they go through hell I cannot imagine, but I dont always agree with those leaders that send them to war.
