From what I've heard, Mexican laws about voting, applying for benefits, etc. are very strict. If we were to pass identical laws here, the outcry would be very loud.
It's one thing to have a "Little Italy", "Germantown", "Little Korea" or whatever ethnic enclave you want. It's almost as old as America for such communities to spring up. It's another thing to come here - especially illegally - and to demand that our country change to meet your demands.
I'm not at all anti-immigrant (my wife, my stepsons, one of my daughters-in-law, and a high percentage of my friends are all immigrants). The big difference is that they're all LEGAL immigrants - and that makes all the difference in the world. BTW: none of them demand Tagalog ballots when they vote. They all still speak their native languages but also learned English.
