re: Alternative fuels

Excellent suggestions.

I'd like to add my own curiosity about safety. How many people will be expected to die in hydrogen explosions from leaks in enclosed spaces such as public parking garages? How many people will die in railway accidents associated with transporting materials for batteries and related energy storage devices? Ditto injuries and deaths from disposals of the toxic components of ethanol and other 'environmentally safe' fuel handling devices? It's not that economic comparisons are incomplete -- we're all recognizing that -- but that so many of them are DELIBERATIVELY incomplete, but are dishonest propagandizing.

These numbers aren't intuitive at all. I've seen very interesting statistical assessments of seat belts and air bags, for example, that suggest that far from saving lives, they encourage drivers to speed, and that death rates per mile driven have not been reduced -- while death rates of pedestrians involved in auto-pedestrian accidents have soared. Other studies disagree -- but some of the 'cheating' involves counting as a 'life saved' every accident in which an air bag was deployed, rather than making a statistical adjustment for who many lives would not have been lost even without air bags in such accidents.
