I wish the US woudl start SERIOUSLY thinking about the alternatives
to fossil fuels, as opposed to oil execs and their lackeys figuring by
the time we run out, they'll be long gone and it won't be their problem
any more.
Venezuela has created an artificially-supported price. It won't last.
There is a lot of effort right now into making the oil companies the goat in this. Might want to look around a bit further.
--The development of nuclear energy in this country was scrapped decades ago. By who?
--Almost every effort to develop new domestic sources of oil, coal and other energy resources has been squelched. By who?
In addition, the standard response to higher prices of an increasingly scarce resource seems to be to shoot the kneecaps off the producers.
My one hope in this current situation is that the government doesn't do something stupid, which is usually the case when it panics.
