Good post. This strikes me as a typical propaganda ploy, set up a straw man and then demolish him to the hairy-palmed applause of your partisans.
Those people violently opposed to common, simple and harmless religious displays are either lefty wackos a la Madelyn Murray O'hair or people with religious axes of their own to grind, like Crypto-Christians, Hyper-Orthodox Jews, or other extreme sects. Responsible anti-religious activists pick fights where real injustices are involved (like businesses which only hire evangelicals, or discriminate against particular religions). They also pick fights they can win.
Of course, the situation is so sensitive now that a lot of cowardly administrators are terrified of getting sued and are trying to eliminate even the most innocuous religious displays. These guys are made to order for the propagandists, they love to make a stink about how "they"
are stealing our god-given right to be bigots.
This one sounds like a Limbaugh special to me.
