"I expect the Democratic Party to be tempted to use the same techniques, and when they do, we have to deal with them." I've said it often enough that I have to take your screed as a deliberate misstatement of my position.
Easy enough to put me in my place. Don't know how far back you've been posting on the net, or paying attention to things like this, but just show me that when Clinton won the presidency in 1992, you expressed concern that the Democrats now had too much power. Any format at all. Hell, I'd even take your word for it, since you aren't someone who would lie to make a point. For extra credit, find me something from ANY Democrat or liberal along those lines. Maybe you can find something from the Carter administration.
Good luck with that. Most liberals I knew back then expressed satisfaction that finally the universe had returned to its proper order.
Political parties, or politicians for that matter, would not be the threat they are if the Federal government had not been given power over our lives and fortunes far in excess of anything the founders had ever dreamed of.
Like many other liberals, you are badly misinterpreting why Republicans aren't happy about their party. I'll give you a clue: it has very little to with the Republicans in Washington being too conservative.
