Don't overlook the probability that the Democratic Party will try to do the same things when they have a chance. The problem isn't Republicans or Democrats as individuals; it's the Party apparatchiks and their powerful patrons with ambitions to power. The GOP machine is screwing Republican voters just as much as Democratic voters, and we Democrats shouldn't settle for that treatment just because our Party holds power. America belongs to us, not to the Parties.
I have a lot of faith in the system, actually, and that's what gives me hope. In a system of government "of the people, by the people, and for the people", the people are a powerful force which, once awakened from their demagoguery-induced coma, will rise up and smite the professional politicians for their presumption. The key is to cut through the deliberate fog of partisan hatred and spread the message of where the real danger lies, and to remind people of who is really in charge of America.
There's light at the end of the tunnel, Lindy. Have faith.
