When children are indoctrinated as they are, given weapons and then placed in the pressure cooker of an unwinnable, unfightable guerilla war, this sort of thing happens.

It is guaranteed. It's known in advance.

And especially with Americans, who have as much fire discipline as a child with a hose on a hot day in a big yard. Not even that much.

The responsibility lays with the people who advocate war as a solution to imagined threats, the neocons, the conservatives, anyone pro-Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice. They, the people with time to think, are the problem, the war criminals, the people absolutely, completely and wholly guilty of crimes against humanity. And they don't think, they can't think. They are believers.

There are a lot of 'em on the ol' HZ. And, frankly, firing squad does come to mind. Especially when one considers the piety they bring to the discussions. The judgmental superiority. The total hypocrisy. As if they wouldn't have done the same thing. (With their attitudes? They wouldn't have done it? Be serious!)

Anyone who could think can figure this out. And believers, well, don't think. Even in the face of all reason, reality, truth and facts. They're consistent, though. Anything which makes the wealthy wealthier, no matter the expense to others, like war, like polluting, is worthwhile. They really, really believe that.
