I doubt that Tom is relying on first hand accounts of good deeds. For me there have been may accounts by third parties that speak of positives by the military.

As for Art's typical BS it sounds more like soldiers on liberty than with a job to do. Maybe Art hung out with the wrong kind of people until he decided to anoint himself an intellectual critic of humanity, albeit obsessed with sex and religion.

I have no illusions that all soldiers are out looking around for good deeds to do and those that do are often rallied for that duty by officers out for good PR but somehow I have a hard time picturing our troops stationed in a hostile Muslim country staggering around drunk looking for sex.

Regarding the comments made coincidental with Memorial Day, I expect no better from the writer but in fact I didn't take the insult as being toward the military other than the specific individuals involved in the shooting. The insult was to refer to anyone who disagrees with his warped view of the world as murderers.

Tom's allegations pale in comparison.
