re: Forest for the trees
The one in Humble, TX moved about a half mile down the road because the location was better. They tore down a huge track of forest. Now the old Wal-Mart sits vacant Across the street is a vacant Super K-Mart and a vacant Garden Ridge. A few years ago they were all forest.
Houston has started a new program where commercial property developers have to protect 3 (or maybe 5 acres- I don’t remember) for every acre of woods they developed.
The only store I have seen use old property is Wall-Greens. Kudos to them. The rest are tearing down the forest as fast as they can. Meanwhile we have square miles of vacant stores and shopping centers.
