They gotcha! I think every municipality does a similar thing from time to time. I'm convinced there is a long tradition of towing companies paying off politicians and police. Preying on the populace this blatantly is usually denounced by politicians to curry favor with the people. But not with towing outfits. Politicians bury their heads in the sand, but with their hand out.
I'd forgotten about this. Years and years ago my car was towed by the Portland Police truck, to the Portland Police lot. I was outraged, incensed, and drunk. They didn't know the latter, though. It was towed for a parking infraction.
The police lot was about 4 blocks from where I lived. I stormed down there, didn't see anyone in the office, noticed the gate was open, went in and used my spare key to drive the car out. In my foolishness I went home and parked it on the street, albeit legally this time.
Absolutely a prime candidate for one of those "Stupid Criminal" pieces, how guy got DUI + other charges EXCEPT -
Never heard a word from 'em. Not about the ticket, not about the towing, nothing.
Maroon 1, Cops 0.
Not recommended.
Arf (You did the same thing with a dog at the pound, Bow. Yep, worked. Was gonna cost $250. Walked around to the back of the cage, outside, opened it, put him on a leash, had to walk back into the place, and out the front door. The End.)

- Death to West Hollywood
- West Hollywood is already dead.
- SoCal has hundreds of miles of streets (maybe thousands?) where parking becomes traffic at certain times.
- What was the time on the ticket? (n/t)
- Sad.
