what is necessary to survive against the barbarians

After all, they also have children and they get hurt by weapons, bombs and if the children survive the war, they develope feelings that can becme very dangerous to later innocent victims.
The children had been innocent until they were faced by the destruction coming from the other side. Then they were victims, then they might also become human bombs.
