I vote for the third way. We don't lay down and die. We don't act like the people we oppose. We adhere to the principles which underlie our civilization.
I present you with the same question I presented Bowser: how? The word "defeat" has an exact meaning, and the type of enemy we're fighting is only defeated when he's dead or imprisoned permanently. Check out other posts of mine on this thread for more context, such as this one.
It isn't about becoming our enemies. Look around you. Almost every aspect of the use of force by the West is now being condemned, on every level. This is about the West being totally morally disarmed, while our enemies are mostly given a pass ("We're BETTER than that, and much more should be expected of us."
The recent war in Lebanon brought this into stark relief for me. I expected the usual responses from the usual factions, but I've never seen it so damn blatant before.
