The pointlessness of the argument on terrorism

There are those that believe that Islamic radicals can be brought to reason by negotiation and those that believe they cannot.

Believe what you wish but it is their side that leaves no room for the existence of western values. It is their side that places little value on this life and total value on the hereafter. The most radical christians and jews do not begrudge the right to live for any group as a matter of policy. I am sure there are some that think I lack understanding of the problem but that is part of the pointless argument that will be resolved in time. I am just a watcher not a player.

Naturally, negotiation should continue but the likely ultimate outcome is that one side or the other will do something or a series of somethings that will create complete polarity. They seem to have a very distinct line in the sand and I am sure we have one somewhere even if it is not currently visible.

Who is going to do what? Are they going to nuke one of our cities or release a plague that will kill millions or will we do something equally evil to them? You decide which is more likely but when the deed is done the argument will be over.

Of course, there is a third possibility that the two sides will eventually attain a cultural equivalence that makes the problem go away. Possible, only if moderate Muslims weigh in sufficiently.

The problem makes the cold war look like a child's game and I am not optimistic.
