I am a believer in the quality of mass opinion. When we rely on the people to make decisions they usually get it right.
It remains that we are a representative government and after the people have cast their vote we leave our national image in the hands of our leaders. We are quick to voice our opinion by responding to opinion polls and signing petitions but our leaders are often slow to listen.
Our leaders have learned that while we are opinionated, we are usually not passionate enough on issues such as this to kick their asses out of office when they ignore us.
